Political science professor Helmut Norpoth says Americans probably shouldn't pay so much attention to mainstream media polls declaring Hillary Clinton the frontrunner in the presidential contest.
Norpoth, who has correctly predicted the outcome of the popular vote in every election since 1996, says GOP nominee Donald Trump has an incredible 87 percent chance of beating Clinton in November.
The professor says his election prediction model draws heavily on how each of the candidates performed in their primary elections.
"It usually turns out that the candidate who does better in his party's primary beats the other guy who does less well," Northrop told Fox, noting that the primary model has held steady for more than a century.
The professor says he's so confident in his model that he's bet money on it.
Norpoth said that while pollsters are more inclined to predict a Clinton victory, academics studying political science see a Trump victory as a likely outcome.
"There are … quite a few colleagues of mine who have a prediction that Trump is going to make it," he said.
Norpoth's prediction comes as Americans are learning that mainstream media polls in the 2016 election have been heavily influenced by the Clinton campaign.
In leaked emails from Clinton campaign, the candidate's team discussed in detail how they could "manufacture" poll results in the Democrat's favor to "maximize what we get out of our media polling."
Some of the tactics discussed included working with media to oversample certain demographics more likely to vote Democrat, use Spanish language polls and target "independents" in areas more friendly to Democrats.

Earlier this month, a small gun shop made national headlines urging shooting sport enthusiasts to stock up during its "pre-Hillary" gun and ammo sale. A growing number of independent and national firearm retailers are following suit in anticipation of an election that could destroy the 2nd Amendment.
On Sunday, national sporting goods chain Gander Mountain announced a huge "Election Sale" on its large selection of firearms and shooting accessories.
The sale comes as gun retailers throughout the nation report a massive uptick in gun-buying spurred by Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's promises to decree harsh new firearm regulations if elected.
Some gun and ammo buyers are stocking up in anticipation of shortages and price hikes in the event that Clinton is elected, others are trying to get their hands on weapons that would be made illegal if she were to successfully reinstate her husband's assault weapons ban.
Prices for guns and ammo spiked after each Obama election.
The average price of an AR-15, for instance, rose to more than $1200 following Obama's second election. Popular AR-platform rifles are currently selling for an average of around $700.
Ammunition shortages also became a big problem for American sportsmen at the height of the Obama administration's anti-firearm rhetoric, with popular calibers from .22 to .223 becoming virtually impossible to find in many areas of the country.
Justin Anderson, who heads up marketing for one of the nation's largest gun stores, Hyatt Guns in Charlotte, N.C., told Washington Examiner that gun sales are currently in "uncharted territory" thanks to uncertainty over the election.
"We're hearing from a lot of our customers that are concerned, and rightfully so, that their 2nd Amendment rights are going to be infringed by a possible Hillary Clinton presidency. Last month our sales effectively doubled from September of 2015 and we're trending toward another similar result for this month," Anderson said.
"We are preparing throughout the store for unprecedented business beginning Nov. 9. We expect continued growth in small framed handguns used for concealed carry," he added.
Despite Clinton's repeated claims that she and her Democratic colleagues are only interested in "common sense" gun laws to keep firearms out of the hands of felons and children, leaked emails from her campaign reveal that she supports a level of gun control via executive fiat which was too brazen even for the Obama administration.
If you're looking to stock up on firearms, accessories and ammo ahead of a possible election-induced rush, here are a few things you may want to pick up now:
Ammunition
Buy ammunition for the firearms that you have or plan to obtain. Ammo in the cheapest and most popular calibers will disappear from shelves and gun shows first in the event of a panic. Remember how tough it was to find .22lr a few years ago? So stock up on .22lr, 9mm, .223, .45 ACP, .40 S&W, 5.56×45, .308, 7.62×39, and so on.

Firearm parts
Because of the average gun grabber's stupid insistence that the look of a firearm has anything to do with its relative deadliness, things like threaded barrels, collapsible stocks, rifle pistol grips could become illegal for sale under a Clinton administration. In addition to those accessories, it's also probably a good time to pick up things like 80 percent lower receivers if you need them. During the last Clinton gun ban prices for these parts skyrocketed as the manufacture of new ones was prohibited.

If Hillary Clinton is elected president, you can bet one of her first orders of business will be making sure that "basket of deplorables" that caused her campaign so much trouble are discredited and demonized.
For a newly elected President Clinton, a large population of Americans supporting small government, self-reliance, free markets and anti-interventionist attitudes will simply cause too many headaches. After all, everyone remembers how much trouble that "vast right wing conspiracy" caused her husband.
But based on the trajectory of the 2016 election season, Clinton and her handlers know that if she is elected— whether rightfully or by deceit— there is a massive group of Americans who will never accept her as commander-in-chief.
Of course, Clinton knows a thing or two about shutting down political opposition from a position of power. And after three decades as a Washington insider she has the resources to make it happen.
Consider for a moment how the initial Clinton administration dealt with any group that dared reject federal power. It wasn't pretty. Think back to the pre-9/11 world of the 1990s. Can you remember what the Clinton Justice Department promoted as the biggest terror threat facing the U.S.?
That's right, so-called right-wing extremism. Officials like Attorney General Janet Reno painted pictures of dangerous deplorables lurking in secluded bunkers throughout the U.S., heavily armed and ready to overthrow the government.
And the Clinton administration made examples of some of them. Massacres at Waco and Ruby Ridge come to mind.
While Randy Weaver and the Branch Davidians at Waco were undoubtedly living on the fringe—enough so that many Americans accepted their fates as something that only happens in the rarest of cases.
But a new Clinton administration is poised to push government crackdowns on detractors much further.
Clinton has already declared that a massive portion of her opponents supporters are extremists who want to tear down government protections for minorities and favor theocratic mandates over women's rights.
This, of course, probably doesn't fit the profile of any Trump supporter you've met— the average working Americans who simply see that big government has failed them. But it doesn't matter, because pundits and Democratic talking heads have already heard the dog whistle.
That's where we end up with headlines like this in The Washington Times: "Democrats warn of a racist uprising if Donald Trump loses election."

In Democratic circles, the talk about the presidential election has increasingly turned to fears of a violent uprising by white supremacists and neo-Nazis if Donald Trump loses.
The nervous talk holds that Mr. Trump's alleged racist followers are being primed to take to the streets to challenge election results should Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton prevail Nov. 8. They say Mr. Trump's followers reveal their revolutionary fervor at rallies by chanting "lock her up" about the former secretary of state.
"Should we take the concern seriously? I think so," said Ben Manski, a liberal activist leading the group No More Stolen Elections, which was formed in reaction to Republican George W. Bush's win in the contested 2000 election.
"I don't take neo-Nazis lightly. I have encountered them, and I am a Jew," he said. "They don't operate by the same set of rules that the rest of us do."
Lynn Joslyn, a former member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, said the topic bubbled up in conversation at a recent dinner party at her home.
"People think there are going to be some riots," said the 85-year-old Democrat. "Is [Mr. Trump] putting this information out to the news subtlety that if he doesn't get elected, all this chaos will ensue? I wonder."
Clinton has put the word out: Trump supporters are violent, racist and unreasonable. They're going to revolt.
What better way to reignite that conversation about the assault weapons ban. And that's probably just the beginning.

Democratic presidential nominee has made escalating tensions between the U.S. and Russia a key part of her campaign platform—and the Russians have noticed. A longtime Russian lawmaker has joined the growing number of prominent voices in the country saying that a Clinton election means war is imminent.
Vladimir Zhirinovsky, described by Reuters as "a flamboyant veteran lawmaker known for his fiery rhetoric," told the news outlet that Americans concerned about nuclear war with Russia should vote for Donald Trump in November.
The lawmaker, a staunch backer of Kremlin policy, said that a Clinton election will bring about WWIII.
"Americans voting for a president on Nov. 8 must realize that they are voting for peace on Planet Earth if they vote for Trump. But if they vote for Hillary it's war. It will be a short movie. There will be Hiroshimas and Nagasakis everywhere," Zhirinovsky said.
Clinton's camp has repeatedly criticized Trump for supporting stronger diplomacy between the U.S. and Russia, charging that the GOP candidate would allow Vladimir Putin to disregard U.S. policy positions and even accusing him of enlisting Russian help to hack the Democratic Party.
Putin and Trump have both complimented one another in public remarks. On the other hand, the Russian leader, like Zhirinovsky, says Clinton will force his country into a war with the U.S.
Zhirinovsky noted that Clinton's attitude toward Russia has been combative for years, a trend that would only intensify if she's elected.
"Relations between Russia and the United States can't get any worse. The only way they can get worse is if a war starts," he said.

The Democratic Party's efforts to intensify tensions with Russia could very well get Hillary Clinton elected as military hawks drool over the idea of massive new military conflicts in the Middle East and a proxy war with Russia.
And while U.S. politicians like Clinton are assuring voters that poking the won't put American lives in danger, Russian leaders are taking a decidedly different position in the face of deteriorating relations with the West.
A critical element of the Clinton campaign has been using recent Russian foreign policy actions to deflect from the Democratic candidate's own diplomatic failures— failures responsible for massive instability in Syria and elsewhere.
At the same time, she's beating the war drum for further U.S. interventionism in Syria and elsewhere to hand additional control and munitions to the loose-knit groups of rebels the Obama administration has empowered throughout the region.
In the months ahead, both the U.S. and Russia are likely to scale up a military presence in those contested areas. And as officials on both sides refuse to acquiesce to the other's demands (and increasingly refuse to even discuss the terms), the room for military imprecision in the region is shrinking.
Unfortunately, Middle Eastern foreign policy under the Clinton State Department accepted military imprecision as the rule: botched drone strikes, untimely troop withdrawals, faulty intelligence, and arming rebels whose causes are not in the best interest of modernity and stability in the region.
And there's no indication that a Clinton White House would pursue a more diplomatic and careful approach to U.S. actions overseas.
Clinton's approach to foreign policy is in many ways similar to her approach to campaigning: Shrieking, bellicose when challenged, and far too entangled to interests other than those of the average taxpayer for honesty.
Thanks to her secret server and ongoing email leaks, we know now that Clinton's desire for a Sunni "awakening" throughout the Middle East has a great deal to do with her entanglements with the Sunni-led House of Saud. And every day, we learn how others of her diplomatic failures can be tied to maneuvers to please outside interests.
In an effort to draw attention away from the content of her emails, Clinton's campaign has increased its anti-Russia rhetoric by accusing the country of being the source of the leaks.
The only problem is that Clinton is setting the stage for a massive and potentially deadly diplomatic disaster with Russia.
She's already had her "reset." And if she is elected, there's little chance the Russian government is willing to consider another one. Especially after months of Clinton trash talk on the campaign trail.
U.S. leaders and media aren't really paying much attention to what a Clinton election could mean in terms of U.S conflict with Russia.
But the Russians are.
After Clinton began blaming his country for her email troubles, Russian leader Vladimir Putin had this to say: "They caused this [anti-Russian] hysteria with a sole goal to distract the public from the essence of what the hackers leaked.
"It's basically a way of manipulating public opinion, but for some reason nobody discusses that. They only talk about who did it."
Putin has also chastised the international press for failing to relay the seriousness of the situation.
Unlike his U.S. counterparts, Putin is also preparing his military and citizens for the possibility of a devastating armed conflict.
He told his top military commanders earlier this year that they should prepare for war in the event of a Clinton election.
And a Russian news site reported that the Russian government is advising its top officials to bring children and other family members living abroad home in anticipation of what analysts say could be a coming "big war."
Here's a roughly translated excerpt:
Russian officials, up to the highest level, it is recommended to return to the country of children studying abroad. And to do so without waiting for the end of the study, and by shifting offspring in Russian universities. At home, parents should also return to officials and deputies, if the older generation of the family for some reason resides abroad without losing the citizenship of the Russian Federation, told Znak.com just five companions whom informal request from the presidential administration are most directly affected.
The move comes just after Putin canceled a planned visit to France amid international condemnation of his actions in Syria.

Still, today, we are learning more about the horrors of World War II. We Americans studied it in school from texts written from an American perspective, and were horrified that over a hundred thousand were killed in the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of Normandy. That pales in comparison to the two million killed in the Battle of Stalingrad. The Eastern Front was particularly brutal, and the Germans and the Russians hated each other fiercely. As the war came to a close in 1945, and the Soviet troops pushed into Germany, it was the end of the world for many German citizens.
Many Soviet soldiers believed there was no such thing as an innocent German. "If you have not killed at least one German a day, you have wasted that day," wrote influential Soviet intellectual Ilya Ehrenburg. "If you leave a German alive, the German will hang a Russian and rape a Russian woman. If you kill one German, kill another — there is nothing more amusing for us than a heap of German corpses." In other words, however bad the retribution, the German citizenry had it coming.
Numerous German cities experienced mass suicides at the end of the war. Over the conflict's chaotic and desperate final months, Berlin witnessed around 7,000 people take their lives. But in terms of sudden and gruesome panic, it is hard to beat the heights of the conflagration at Demmin, a disaster in which an estimated 1,000 people took their lives, in a span scarcely longer than 72 hours.

A former Army Special Operations officer says the Obama administration's inability to officially say the U.S. has a no-first-use nuclear policy is a sign that military top brass want to antagonize Russia and China.
Asked about whether he thought it was a good idea for U.S. leaders to unequivocally pledge that the nation would only use nuclear weapons in a defensive capacity, Defense Secretary Ash Carter told reporters:
"It has been the policy of the United States for a long time to extend the – its nuclear umbrella to friends and allies and — thereby to contribute to the deterrence of conflict and the deterrence of war and many of our friends and allies have benefited from that over time. And our future plans will retain for the United States the capability to meet those alliance commitments in the future."
Confused reporters asked the official to clarify whether he'd just said 'yes' or 'no.' Carter's response remained unclear.
"It has been our policy for a long time and it's part of our plans going forward," he said.
Since the U.S.'s use of nuclear bombs to end WWII, presidential administrations have made clear that nuclear technology would only be used again as a matter of last resort.
But earlier this year, Obama administration officials began discussing whether the administration should ratify the longstanding unwritten policy with an official pledge.
Senior military officials, including Carter, rejected the proposal, saying any such move would signal weakness to nuclear powers like Russia and China. Despite his desire to make decreasing international reliance on nuclear weapons part of his legacy, Obama has now abandoned the proposal.
Scott Bennett, a former Army psychological warfare officer who is now a whistleblower, said in an interview with the Iranian-backed PressTV that all of this is a sign elected officials in the U.S. may be losing control of the military.
"Essentially what I see [military leaders] doing is positioning the United States Pentagon – the Department of Defense – in a military gun road within the United States that is headed up by psychopaths and uniforms that are really blood-drunk with war for the past 15 years, setting them up for a long-term military conflict with Russia, Iran and China," he said.
Bennett called for the White House to regain control of what he sees as a military apparatus engaging in provocation of other nations for its own benefit.
"The military in the United States is now off the chain, it's not obeying President Obama, it is not obeying the United States Congress, instead you have a small cabal within the Pentagon and specifically the US Central Command commanding the Middle East theater, positioning itself for a long-term war," he said.
Bennet added that Americans should be particularly alarmed of the possibility of conflict with Russia "given the positioning of the batteries of missile silos now in Romania and Poland" the U.S. military is currently beefing up.

Feds sent local police to gather license plate data at gun shows

If you've been to a gun show in the past few years, there's a chance that local law enforcement officials recorded your license plate number and reported it to federal agents.
This is especially true if you attended a gun show in a state along the U.S./Mexico border, according to a report Sunday in the Wall Street Journal.

Emails reviewed by The Wall Street Journal show agents with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency crafted a plan in 2010 to use license-plate readers—devices that record the plate numbers of all passing cars—at gun shows in Southern California, including one in Del Mar, not far from the Mexican border.
Agents then compared that information to cars that crossed the border, hoping to find gun smugglers, according to the documents and interviews with law-enforcement officials with knowledge of the operation.
The investigative tactic concerns privacy and guns-rights advocates, who call it an invasion of privacy. The law-enforcement officials say it is an important and legal tool for pursuing dangerous, hard-to-track illegal activity.
There is no indication the gun-show surveillance led to any arrests or investigative leads, but the officials didn't rule out that such surveillance may have happened elsewhere. The agency has no written policy on its use of license-plate readers and could engage in similar surveillance in the future, they said.
This is the first time we've heard about efforts to gather license plate data specific to gun show attendance— but stories about federal law enforcement's desire to expand the use of license plate readers are plenty.
Last year, we reported on a similar DEA license plate tracking program. What was designed to monitor vehicles with suspected ties to drug traffic quickly began ballooning into a massive roadway surveillance program.
And federal officials made no secret that they wished to expand the program, which was originally relegated to border areas such as Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas, into a nationwide license plate tracking network.
In addition to federal efforts, local police departments throughout the nation are also increasingly likely to use the tracking technology for their own investigative purposes. This local information-gathering often goes on with little oversight and no restrictions to limit the sharing of data between agencies across all levels of law enforcement, hence federal agencies' ability to ask local law enforcement to handle information gathering at gun shows.
But groups like the American Civil Liberties Union are pushing back, noting that blanket surveillance of gun show attendees is unconstitutional.
ACLU lawyer Jay Stanley told WSJ that federal agents surveilling people at gun shows in border states are assuming that anyone who buys firearms and also occasionally crosses the border—both legal activities—is "inherently suspicious."
Even John Chigos, CEO of PlateSmart Technologies, Inc., who only stands to benefit from increased government use of the readers, told the newspaper that targeting gun show attendees is "an abuse of the technology.''
"I think this was a situation that shows we need to establish policies for license-plate readers, like any new technology," he said.
